Director – Trade Processing (C++/Sophis) | Banking - New York, United States

A global multinational bank is seeking a Director – Trade Processing with strong C++ development skills and experience working with the Sophis platform. The ideal candidate will have expertise in trade processing, risk management, and front-to middle office workflows within a global financial institution. This role involves enhancing trade processing systems, optimising trade flow, and leading a small development team (3–5 people). 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance trade processing and risk management systems using C++. 

• Work on front-to-middle office trade flow, ensuring seamless trade execution and risk mitigation. 

• Maintain and improve the Sophis platform (version 17+) to support trading operations. 

• Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and IT teams to align technology solutions with business needs. 

• Optimise system performance, scalability, and reliability for structured product trading. 

• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior developers within the team. 

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for trade processing systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

• 10+ years of experience in financial technology, with a focus on trade processing and risk management. 

• Strong C++ programming skills with experience in high-performance financial applications. 

• Hands-on experience with the Sophis trading platform (version 17+). 

• Deep understanding of front-to-middle office trade flow and risk management. 

• Experience leading or mentoring development teams in a fast-paced environment. 

• Strong knowledge of financial instruments, particularly structured products, derivatives, and fixed income. 

• Ability to troubleshoot and optimise complex trading systems. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Previous experience in a Tier 1 financial institution. 

• Knowledge of other risk management platforms or quantitative finance models. 

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
